Variety: Chardonnay
Region: Central Valley
Country: Chile
Year: 2015

Winery Review: A refined and suave style, with a rich array of white fruit and cream flavors, featuring a plush texture. Ripe citrus and pear notes fill the smooth finish.

My Review: This wine has very strong smell. I could taste citrus but not fruity and cream flavors. I did not like this wine that much but I might buy it again to drink with food.

Winery Review: The cool climate in the Vouvray appellation area insures good acidity, which is balanced by the distinctly fruity character of the Chenin Blanc and the mineral qualities imparted by the soil. Thanks to these natural elements, this Vouvray combines elegance and vigor with honey dipped pears and an inherent freshness.

Shows a touch of jamminess to its pliant black raspberry and cherry compote flavors, with a spicy quality adding vibrancy. Finishes with good focus and no obvious tannins, leaving a sweet berry note behind.

My Review: It was too bold for me. I could feel some fruity flavors on my tongue. I did not like it that much overall.

Wine and I so far...

I recently turned 21 which means that I am legal to DRINK. Yaay!  Hooray ! Since I am a newbie in this department, you can tell that I don't have much experience with wine. Having said that, my experience with wine is not that boring either. I do have some wine related stories to tell. So, let me take you to Nepal. I was born and raised in Nepal. I have only been in the United States for five years. Fun fact number 1 about being raised in Nepal is that, there is no legal drinking age. Yes, you heard me right. No drinking age. Having said that not every kids and babies in Nepal drink wine. In most cases, children are not allowed to drink by their parents until they reach a certain age because of ethical and moral obligations.

I lived in Nepal until I was 16 years old. I don't remember drinking in public except taking some little sips in parties and family gatherings. Those sips were of beer, hard liquor or wine. There was also this famous locally made wine made out of millet, wine and some other ingredients that I used to drink sometimes. It did not have any legit name. People used to call it 'Wine of Millet'. It tasted sour and bitter. It is a light wine. Overall, I used to like it. One thing I hated so much about Wine of Millet is was its smell. It had this very strong unpleasant smell and I honestly can't describe the smell. Since, this wine was targeted for local people, I don't think people bothered to come up with a way to remove the smell. People used to make this wine at their homes. I don't think this wine required a lot of pots or pans or hassles. It was just like cooking dinner for some families. My family never did it though.

After I came to the States, I have had some drink here and there. I have drank in some college parties.  But I never drank much because of the fear of getting caught, ruining career and all those scary stuffs. I am not a fan of red wines in general. I like Corona. I would prefer wines with sour taste instead of sweet. I love trying new things in general. It could be anything from food, drinks, games or anything. So, I am looking forward to learn as much as I can about wine through this class. I expect to learn about the status of wine is several parts of the world; how wine is portrayed in different cultures because I have heard that some cultures don't allow wine. I hope to do as much wine tasting as possible. I hope I will have more wine related stories to tell people later in my life, hahaha.
